"I started drum lessons 6 months ago at Irvine School of Music. I had never had a lesson before but had played for a year or so prior to starting. I am very happy that I chose Irvine for my drum lessons. First of all-the staff is always friendly and helpful-and allowed me to come in during the week and practice on the drum set at no charge. Secondly, my instructor Ben has been outstanding. This young man first of all is an outstanding player and certainly understands what it takes to be a good drummer. He was very instrumental in showing me how to keep good time on the metronome and how this is a drummer’s main role. He also had much patience and was always encouraging as well as showing me how to break down things that were complicated to me. Also-he allowed me to bring in some material that I was interested in- and showed me how to try and master these beats. I actually think after these lessons that with continued practice-I can play drums with a band and hold my own. In summary- I had an a great experience with the Irvine School of Music and Ben in particular made that happen. I would recommend him and Irvine School of Music for anyone looking to learn a musical instrument. "

"I had been wanting to learn how to play the piano for years, but got more motivated when my 3 year old son expressed an interest in the piano (and music in general). This past fall we BOTH started lessons at the Irvine School of Music (Cameron was recommended to us by a friend). My 3 year old looks forward to seeing Ms. Hallie every week for his "pre-piano" lessons, and is learning the fundamentals of music, such as rhythm and note recognition (i.e. the difference between a quarter note and half note). The way Ms. Hallie teaches these concepts to someone so young is really fascinating. I have been enjoying my own lessons with Pheaross very much. His knowledge of music is astounding, and in addition to piano, we are working on music theory which has helped me tremendously in my playing. Although I cannot practice as much as I would like because of the demands of my job and motherhood, Pheaross is understanding and never makes me feel guilty. He keeps piano fun, which is exactly what I think it should be."

"I've been "classically-trained" for most of my life, adding Jazz piano was kind of a "why not?" It has been absolutely amazing. After every jazz lesson, I am inspired and stunned by Dan's incredible skill (I've told him many times that I wish I could just sit and listen to him play all day). For a few lessons, I had the honor of taking lessons with Morgan (who subbed for Dan). Morgan, not only is a mind-blowingly-amazing musician, but a hilarious, friendly, down-to-earth person that I am blessed to have met. And I think, above all things, THAT is what matters….Learning piano is a huge investment in many aspects, and I am so happy to have made that investment with such an incredible school. Thank you Cameron, Dan, and Morgan for your investments in me. I am so grateful to have worked alongside such gifted artists. "

"My 5 year old started taking piano lessons from Saousan back in May of this year. Miss Saousan is highly energetic and incredibly talented. This, in combination with ISM's teaching methods has succeeded in making learning to play the piano fun for my son. I am confident that he is getting a solid foundation and I am thoroughly impressed with how much he has learned in such a short period of time. He looks forward to his lesson every week and we couldn't be prouder.

My 15 month old also is enrolled in the Music Pups program. It is also taught by Miss Saousan and she truly makes it an enjoyable experience. After just a couple of classes my son is recognizing/ playing rhythms and is singing along to the class CD in our car. It's pretty amazing, considering he is just starting to talk!

Overall, my husband and I are really impressed with ISM. The dedicated owner, highly skilled faculty, and convenient location make it a no brainer for us. We look forward to watching our boy's knowledge and love for music grow at this school."

"It is just a great place! Both of my children love learning piano here. At the same time they are challenged, they also have fun. The instructors are very qualified and skilled. My daughters are so into music that now they are interested in singing and learning a new musical instrument. The new studio is also very nice and spacious. Overall, I just had a very positive experience there."
- Gizela Berreth, mother of piano students Erica (9) and Daniela (7)

"My daughter looks forward to the choir classes each week. She loves singing and enjoys the the opportunity to participate in this activity with other children her age. I've been extremely impressed with the growth in her vocal skills as well as her confidence in singing in front of a audience. She and some of her choir classmates auditioned for the school talent show and were selected. They received many compliments on their performance. This never would have happened if not for the choir classes. Thank you for providing this opportunity!"

- Jenifer Weigand, mother of Leah (8)

"The Irvine School of Music is a amazing school with talented staff and diversity of music programs. Their mission is to instill in their students a natural appreciation of music by teaching them in innovative ways beyond the routine of practice. Their staff is specifically trained in early education thus making the learning fun...With the combination of piano and choir, [my son and daughter] are active participants in learning music by sight, sound and touch."

- Eunice Sun, mother of Sofia (6) and Luke (4)

"My child attends the children's choir and individual piano lessons and we very much enjoy the musical education she is receiving. She loves going to choir practice. She sings all the time now."

- Jane Kakkis, mother of Julia (6)

"It is because of the piano program at the Irvine School of Music that I have been successful in the music program at UCI."

- Alex Fong, undergraduate student, UC Irvine

"Although I have had excellent teachers in the past, studying with (Irvine School of Music faculty member) Cameron has been a revelation in more ways than one...He has transformed my awareness of my body in relation to the piano, including the way I sit and the relationship among my body, my arms, my wrists, and my fingers...I can now accomplish things on the piano that I could not before...he is the finest piano teacher I have ever had"

- Claire Kim, Associate Professor, UC Irvine

"Daniel is a great instructor, he is patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable in guitar. I would recommend him to any of my friends or family, especially for those who are beginning to learn how to play guitar. He makes learning easy and fun, he's even teaching me how to read music and write it. My lessons with him feel like they end just as they start, that's how much I enjoy learning with him. "

- Mike Prado, Guitar student

"We have been working with (Irvine School of Music faculty member) Cameron for going on two years. My child has AD/HD which means learning and comprehension takes much longer than the average child. Cameron is very patient, yet stern. As a result, something that might be difficult for my child to do has become a joy.. He is a truly wonderful instructor."

- Lisa Ross, mother of Mia Ross (9)

"I have a strong interest in composing besides playing. At the Irvine School of Music, my weekly lessons were customized so that I could learn both skills in a mutual enhancing way. I also benefitted greatly from my frequent and inspiring conversations with my instructor on music and beyond. The Irvine School of Music has something to offer whatever your goals and ages are. I highly recommend this place for music study!"

- Jingfeng Wang, adult piano student

"The Irvine School of Music has a wide variety of teachers, each very talented and capable of working with any skill level. I’ve never felt pressured to over-practice or move at a pace I’m uncomfortable with, which is something I was afraid of when I started looking for a place to learn piano and train my voice. I can count on Cameron to keep me informed about new classes, recitals, and anything else that may interest me. They are also always willing to work with my often hectic schedule. Ms. Saousan, my voice instructor, is easy to work with, funny, and comes up with all kinds of crazy and very successful ways to help me really use my voice properly. If you are an adult looking to learn an instrument I HIGHLY recommend the Irvine School of music. In just over 4 months, I’ve had only great experiences and feel more accomplished than I ever have with music. "
- Shaina Peshkov, adult piano and voice student
